Base Camp Himalayas is a boutique, Sydney-based company offering all-inclusive, guided treks through Nepal’s most iconic regions—Everest, Annapurna, Langtang, and Manaslu. We specialise in high-altitude cultural trekking through remote villages, where adventure meets meaningful connection with local communities.
We welcome anyone with a dream to trek the Himalayas, and we proudly offer women-only treks, led by inspiring female guides. Every journey supports local charity initiatives focused on children’s education and creating better opportunities for women in Nepal. Every step gives back.

Nuwakot
At Base Camp Himalayas, our connection to the mountains runs deeper than adventure. For us, the journey is also about giving back — especially to the communities that have given us so much.
That’s why we’re proud to support Shree Ganeshman Singh Memorial Primary School in the remote village of Nuwakot, Nepal — the birthplace of our co-founder Prakash Adhikari, who now leads our Nepalese operations. This is more than a project — it’s a return to roots, and a commitment to uplift the next generation where it matters most.
Why This Matters
In rural areas like Nuwakot, access to quality education is a daily struggle. Many families cannot afford basic school supplies or uniforms. Children often walk long distances to reach under-resourced classrooms. Teachers work with limited materials and low pay — and yet, they remain deeply committed to their students’ futures.
Without proper support, bright young minds are at risk of dropping out early, not because of lack of potential, but because of lack of opportunity.
How Base Camp Himalayas Is Helping
Each year, through the support of our trekkers and partners, we provide:
- School uniforms so children can attend with pride and dignity
- Books and essential learning materials to support classroom education
- Stationery and supplies for every student
- Financial contributions toward teacher salaries, helping retain quality educators in the village
This initiative directly lightens the financial burden on families, improves the learning environment, and encourages children to stay in school and dream bigger.

Trekking for Maternal
& Child Health in the Himalayas
At Base Camp Himalayas, we believe adventure should uplift not only those who trek — but also the communities we walk alongside.
That’s why we’re proud to support the Taplejung Women’s Health Project by the Australian Himalayan Foundation, a life-changing initiative improving healthcare access for women and their families living in the shadow of Mount Kangchenjunga (the world’s third-highest peak). This project focuses on supporting adolescents, women of reproductive age and children under five—groups that continue to face some of the greatest health disparities in Nepal.
Health services are extremely basic in the remote regions of Nepal and so many health issues go unattended and many women continue to give birth at home without the aid of trained midwives. Through the Australian Himalayan Foundation’s women’s health projects, in partnership with local Nepali NGO Action for Nepal, they’ve been working to close the significant gaps in the availability and effectiveness of healthcare for women and children living in isolated mountain villages.
Empowering Women, One Trek at a Time
For every women-only trek we run, a portion of the proceeds goes directly to this impactful program, which works to:
- Educate women on reproductive health and hygiene
- Train local healthcare workers and midwives
- Provide vital medical supplies and equipment to community health centres
- Ensure access to essential health services in isolated villages
- Support gender equity in health and education
In remote mountain communities in Nepal, distance, poverty and tradition often prevent women from seeking or receiving the care they need. The Australian Himalayan Foundation’s programs meet them where they are — with compassion, cultural understanding and practical support.
