I’ve always been drawn to the mountains. Growing up in the Czech Republic, I spent my early years snowboarding, climbing, and mountaineering in the Alps. That love of adventure eventually took me to New Zealand, where I lived among the Southern Alps, and now to Sydney, Australia — but it was Nepal that truly stole my heart.

In 2017, I travelled to the Himalayas to fulfil a dream: to walk among the world’s highest peaks and experience life in the remote mountain villages. What I found there changed everything — the beauty of the landscape, the warmth of the people, and the spirit of resilience that runs through every trail. It was also where I met Prakash Adhikari, now our trusted Operations Director in Nepal and a key part of our story.

I founded Base Camp Himalayas to create a different kind of trekking experience — one built on fairness, connection, and impact. I wanted to give travellers the chance to experience the raw beauty of Nepal, while also making sure that the people who make those journeys possible — guides, porters, and local communities — are treated with respect and paid fairly.

Our treks are for those who want more than just a holiday. They’re for people who want to feel something deeper — to connect with culture, give back, and return home changed.

Today, I help people from all over the world turn their Himalayan dreams into reality. I plan every trip with care, ensure our operations are safe and ethical, and work closely with our team in Nepal to support education, women’s health, and training programs in remote villages. Whether it’s funding schoolbooks for children or empowering women to become trekking guides, every step we take is part of something bigger.

As a father of two, Naomi (6) and Oliver (3), this mission is personal. I’ve seen how tough life can be for children growing up in remote Himalayas — and I’m building a business that helps change that, one trek at a time.
