Pikey Peak MTB
Expedition 7 Days

Solukhumbu Region (Phaplu & Pikey Peak), Nepal

Trek Overview

This 7-day Himalayan MTB journey explores the lower Everest region through a series of uplift-assisted gravity descents based out of Phaplu — one of Nepal’s most underrated mountain biking zones.

The expedition begins with an overland drive from Kathmandu into the Solukhumbu hills, avoiding the unpredictability of domestic mountain flights while providing a more stable and flexible logistics system.

Using Phaplu as a fixed expedition base, riders access multiple descent zones each day via 4WD uplift support. The riding combines high-altitude ridge trails, forest singletrack, jeep-track descents, and traditional village paths overlooking the Everest region.

Key riding zones include:

  • Pikey Peak ridgeline descents
  • Taksindu Ridge flow trails
  • Salleri and surrounding village systems
  • Remote Everest-view ridge traverses

Terrain varies throughout the expedition and includes:

  • alpine ridgeline riding
  • flowing forest singletrack
  • fast jeep-track descents
  • rocky village connectors
  • optional technical sections

This is a gravity-focused riding itinerary designed to maximise descending while reducing unnecessary climbing and daily logistical movement.

Beyond the riding, the expedition passes through Sherpa and Rai communities, Buddhist monasteries, terraced farmland, and traditional Himalayan settlements rarely visited by international MTB travellers.

With small groups, dedicated support vehicles, experienced local MTB guides, and a fixed-base lodge setup, the focus remains on quality riding, smooth logistics, and authentic mountain travel.

Phaplu & Pikey Peak MTB Region

The Phaplu and Pikey Peak region offers some of the most rewarding gravity-oriented riding terrain in Nepal. Located in the lower Everest region, the area combines Himalayan ridgelines, quiet mountain villages, forested trails, and extensive jeep-road access ideal for uplift-supported riding.

Unlike Nepal’s more commercial trekking corridors, this region remains relatively uncrowded and lightly explored by international MTB groups.

The combination of:

  • reliable road access
  • long descending terrain
  • panoramic Himalayan scenery
  • authentic local culture
  • and fixed-base expedition logistics

makes Phaplu one of the strongest emerging MTB destinations in the Himalayas.

Base Camp Himalayas works directly with local guides, drivers, lodges, and communities in the region to support long-term trail-based tourism development and sustainable local employment.
